Out and About

We've been getting out with both girls a fair amount. It's just amazing to me how much work and time it takes to just get out the door. Getting dressed, change a diaper, pack a diaper bag and snack bag, change a diaper, feed the baby, get mommy dressed, get daddy moving, change a diaper, load everyone in the car. We go on massive expeditions just to get to breakfast. It makes me sort of afraid for our first actual trip anywhere.

I've been thinking that I want to get back down to Texas in June or so. However, that would mean either flying or a very long drive. The drive which is about a 20 -22 hr drive could easioy turn into a 30+ hour drive when one considers feedings and changings and just time to let the Bug out to run. I've made the drive alone in about 2 days. With both of them in tow....3, 4 days..oh my. And then we consider plane ride. Now, piglet can ride in my arms. But that becomes problematic if I find myself having to fight Jess about the seat belts. Or even worse, lugging a car seat. Need one of those baby back packs -- just on both sides. Carry Jess on my back and Erica in front. Ain't gonna happen. Oh, did i mention I was looking at taking this trip just me and the girls? Can you say insane??

In any case, here is my latest picture of me with the piglet.

OH MY GOD...

I knew that having two would be more hectic and more work and just..well...more. But truly I am amazed by the difference between one and two children. The constant input of stimuli is simply overwhelming at times. Just a ride in the car with my husband talking to me, the bug singing loudly off key, the piglet crying because she beleives she needs to eat, the radio on even very low, then having to do all those other things when i'm driving --- all of it together is enough to run me off the road without the help of any other vehicle.

We have very good friends who have twin boys that are almost a year old. They make having two - twins no less - look easy. But then, I think what drives me craziest is the age difference between Jessica and Erica. They each need so much, and it is just very different needs. But, i wouldn't trade either of them for anything. Not even a full night's sleep :).

In any case, slowly but surely i am getting back to some semblance of normal. Or at least my new normal.

I've added a new album show casing my bugaboo between ages 2 and 3. More pictures coming soon of both girls.Dsc01503
